American organizations have another problem: they lack teeth or the want to cause change by any means necessary. That is to say, many organizations are content to work within the system making them at best unable to affect change, and at worst sympathetic to the capitalist system within which they operate.
As communists, we should join organizations that represent our personal interests and class position with the intent of guiding these organizations with Marxist values.
Remember, only one communist is needed within an organization to affect change. Without you, there would be none, and with none, the organization will continue on its current trajectory of being ineffectual.
Organizations should be encouraged to come up with tactical plans that will protect their member sand the community against direct violence from the state. Education and activism are “nice” but they are ineffective against repressive violence. Many methods current organizations use will be curtailed through laws that attempt to suppress dissent.
Are they already Marxists?
It is important to note that if the organization is not already Marxist, it is essential to educate them on Marxist philosophy and principles. This education should include an examination of how capitalism works and how it oppresses and harms the working class. It is also important to explain how Marxism has been used to develop successful strategies to improve the lives of working people. Finally, it is essential to provide examples of how Marxism has been used to improve living and working conditions in other countries.
By providing a thorough education on Marxist philosophy and principles, organizations can be better equipped to recognize and understand the issues facing the working class and how Marxism can provide solutions to them.
