Greetings, comrades! It's an exciting week as we announce the official launch of our second Marxist Book Club section. This section will be hosted on Saturdays at 6 pm New York City time and will focus on larger books that require additional meetings. We're calling it our "Long-Form" book club night.
Don't worry, our Thursday night book clubs aren't going anywhere! In fact, we encourage you to join both if you have the time! You’ll be a comprehensive Marxist by the end of the year!

This week, I decided to highlight two great posters: one of Engles and one of Lenin. I used these images to create this week’s Book Club promo images. Make sure you read below to learn more about this week’s readings!
📺 Videos
Comrades, this video surprised me! I clicked on it hoping to learn a little about the grading system and why I hated it so much as a student. Not only did I get information on grading, but I found the video to be borderline Marxist at times (especially around the 18 and 38-minute marks).
To put it simply, coercing someone to do something (such as giving them good grades or paying them money) can actually decrease their interest and the quality of their work. Humans were not created to work for rewards on a constant system. We are meant to work collectively, and our schools should reflect that.
Interesting video regarding the history of mixed-use buildings in the US.

🎧 Music
One of my friends translated this soviet song from Russian to Arabic, so please give this video a thumbs up!

Kronstadt Fortress is an 18th-19th century architectural and historical monument in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The Sailor's Golden Ribbon or St. Gregory's Ribbon is a Russian military symbol consisting of a bi-colour pattern in black and orange, with three black and two orange stripes. It appears as an element of many high military decorations bestowed by the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and the present-day Russian Federation.

📜 Last Week in Marxist History
This carouselx of statistics and insight was interesting to me. I’m not an expert on the GDR, but I always find the progressive nature of their policies very reassuring.
💬 Global Comrades
Thousands protested in Mexico City in solidarity with the leftist Zapatista revolutionary movement and its armed wing, the EZLN, against paramilitary attacks on Zapatista-run communities in Chiapas, in the south of the country. In the face of recent armed attacks against the EZLN by paramilitaries, the movement warns that "Chiapas is on the brink of civil war" in a public statement.
Under the leadership of current President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, also known as Amlo, Mexico has experienced a surge in homicides, reaching a new record high. Amlo acknowledged this fact during a recent press conference in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas. However, Amlo stressed that this record was due to the problems left to him by previous right-wing governments.
“Pride means class struggle! Today the Rainbow Parade takes place for the 27th time in Vienna. Pride Month is celebrated all over the world and even the big corporations and bourgeois liberal parties like to give themselves a colorful coat of paint in order to commercialize the fight for the rights of oppressed groups of the population. Under no circumstances should we forget that Pride must always mean class struggle as well. . Today, in the epoch of imperialism, in which war, poverty and exploitation are intensifying worldwide, we see every day the barbarity of the capitalist system, which affects all non-heterosexual and/or trans people at least to the same extent and, in addition, confronts them with discrimination. . There are still states in which the death penalty is imposed on (acted out) homosexuality, and even in supposedly progressive countries the debate about trans persons takes on reactionary features. This is nothing more than a clumsy attempt to impose an imaginary enemy image on the population in order to distract them from their true interests. The same applies to racist and sexist ideologies; artificial lines of division are meant to obscure the true roots of the problems in our society. . We fight for a socialist society in which all people, regardless of gender ascription, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religious affiliation, contribute to the development of society. Only when the working:inner class has broken the power of capital can work, housing, education and health be enjoyed as social rights. Only then can persons outside of cis-heteronormativity no longer be arbitrarily terminated or disadvantaged in the private housing market. Medical procedures can also be performed without having to turn to expensive private clinics and elective practices. . Let's fight together against discrimination! Let's fight together for a strong communist movement that can fight for socialism! No #Pride without class struggle.”
Red Yurt (Kazakstan) on Instagram: "Under capitalism, the poor fight against the poor, while the rich who started these wars prefer to stay far away from the front lines.”
