The gala is frequently covered by press, including WWD, Vogue, Getty Images, and is attended by board members, celebrities, and other notable figures. It seems that they are counting on press coverage to bury the story of NYPD arresting FIT students for supporting the solidarity encampment. The gala raises money for FIT Foundation, which provides funding for FIT. Until FIT Foundation provides financial transparency, it is unknown how much money raised will go towards supporting genocide. #alleyesonrafah Yesterday night, FIT made the decision to forcibly clear the Gaza solidarity encampment of students and many organizers and participants of the encampment were suspended. These sanctions are due to “non-discriminatory harrassment”, and many other outrageous charges such as “Food and Beverages.” Apparently, we are only able to eat and drink in DESIGNATED areas. This is a direct violation of our first amendment rights! To FIT and every other university across the globe, any Palestinian speech is hate speech. FIT and Joyce Brown thinks they can call the cops on us to scare us and to teach us a lesson. To obey. To submit to fascism. We are not scared. We are not deterred. JOYCE BROWN WE DO NOT CARE. President Joyce Brown, Dean of Students Corrie Mccallum, VP Tardis Johnson, VP of Finances Sherry Brabham and the rest of the shameful FIT admin, we will make your life HELL until our demands for disclosure and divestment are met. FIT IS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE COMPLICIT IN GENOCIDE UNTIL ADMIN AGREES TO DIVEST FROM THE APARTHEID STATE OF ISRAEL. OVER 40,000 DEAD FIT YOUR HANDS ARE RED. “They played jenga and blew bubbles and set a calm, collected tone waiting for the hammer to fall. They held flowers as they got arrested. If there’s a narrative going about outside agitators and violence, the clearing of FIT - the last Gaza Solidarity Encampment in NYC, which ran for 13 days — made it emphatically clear the issue is the cops, not the protestors”"
