MCKEESPORT, Pa. —
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is now offering a reward into what officials say is an act of arson targeting the McKeesport Police Department.
Emergency responders were called to the scene a little after 3 a.m. Four vehicles, including a marked police car, went up in flames Wednesday morning.
"Oh, I get woke up at 3:12 in the morning with a call that four police cars are on fire in your lower lot. My heart sunk to my stomach," said McKeesport police Chief Mark Steele.
McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko described the alleged arson as an attack on local law enforcement.
"Obviously, this is an attack on police," said Cherepko.
The mayor added, "The one thing we are very grateful for is that, you know, there were no injuries, but it's something that obviously has been taken very seriously."
Both local and federal investigators responded to the fires.

While the Allegheny County Fire Marshal is handling the investigation, agents with ATF are assisting. The agency has offered a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
"We are offering a $5,000 reward. Anybody that has any information, please call the McKeesport Police Department," said ATF Resident Agent in Charge Ronald Sabotchick.
Mayor Cherepko says anyone with information can call the number (412) 675-5015. That line goes directly to the warden's desk and will be monitored 24/7.
